April Showers Bring May Flowers

Spring is upon us. The birds are chirping. The grass is green. The flowers are blooming. The days are longer. Welcome Spring!!!

As we enter the last quarter of the year, let’s keep the momentum going. Please continue to set a consistent bed time, check backpacks regularly for homework and notes, read each night for at least 20 minutes, and eat a nutritious breakfast. Students who are enrolled in tutoring should continue to attend. Tutoring days are as follows:

Tuesdays and Thursdays are reading support.

                                    Wednesdays are for math support.

The next two months will be busy for Central Park Students. In April, we will have Patrick McBarity with us on Thursday, April 20. He has written many books about the construction of bridges. Throughout the week, students will learn about building bridges and will make bridges with different grade level teams.

Our seventh grade science students have been working hard all month on their science experiments. Please consider stopping by as the seventh graders showcase their exhibits on Tuesday, April 25 at 6 pm.

The month of May is full of activities for our eighth grade students. On May 5, two eighth grade students will be honored at the annual IPA Student Recognition Breakfast. Volunteers from different professions will talk to our eighth graders about their careers. The Career Fair will be held on Friday, May 12. The Dinner Dance will be held at Raday Lodge on Friday, May 19. Graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31 at 7 pm.

What a busy last quarter we will have! We cannot forget our faithful volunteers who willingly give their time to help with our students and teachers. You will be honored at a breakfast at the school on Wednesday, May 10. Look for an invite in your child’s backpack, if you have volunteered in any capacity at the school. Our next parent group meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 26 at 9 am in room 11. It is our last meeting of the year. I hope to see you there.

As we close out the 2016-2017 school year, let’s continue to read each night and practice our math facts. School and family communication is important. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns.

Happy Spring!!!
